This fall/winter I will be teaching some beginning knitting classes that will be held online through the CVU Access program. This is a fantastic local program that offers classes on so many different subjects, cooking, languages, music, arts, crafts, photography, gardening, and many more. Take a look below at the classes that are available, clicking the links will take you to the CVU Access page where you can register for the classes.
Mon Oct 5, Mon Oct 12 & Mon Oct 19 - 6:00 - 8:00 PM
Join us for this fun, informative class where Kelly will teach you how to Cast On, Knit, Purl and Bind Off. You’ll talk about yarn, needles, other tools of the trade, gauge and pattern reading, so you’ll have a good base of information to get you started off right! This cowl is so much fun to knit and wear, and makes great gifts for the holidays too; you’ll want to make one in every color!
Mon Nov 2, Mon Nov 9 & Mon Nov 16 - 6:00 - 8:00 PM
In this class Kelly will teach you to make a quick to knit hat that everyone will love! You’ll review casting on, and then jump right into working a basic ribbing – alternating the knit and purl stitches in the same round. There will be some relaxing stockinette stitch for a bit, then you’ll take on decreasing to complete the crown shaping. If you’ve done a bit of knitting before, this class is just the thing to take you through the next steps in your journey!
Tue Jan 12, Tue Jan 19 & Tue Jan 26 - 6:00 - 8:00 PM
Have you heard of or seen Tunisian crochet before? This is a fun fiber arts technique that is almost a hybrid of knitting and crochet. If you knit and have wanted to crochet, this class is for you, it’s a great way to ease into crochet. We’ll be working on a cowl in this class using the Tunisian Simple Stitch, which makes a dense, textured fabric. We’ll also go over some other stitches that mimic the knit and purl stitches and allow you so many stitch and texture combinations!
